The aim of this project was to come up with a design of such a staircase that is safe and comfortable enough for kids, though steep. Furthermore, design that offers some storage space, that makes a tiny attic a safe place for kids´ activities and avoids to build a complicated railing system at the same time. The final design combines space saving steps with bevelled steps. All the room under the steps is accesible and offers a couple of pull-out trays and number of racks. All visible parts of the staircase are made of edge glued birch panels. A heavy floor lid mounted on a couple of gas struts is easy to open and tough enough to step on. Colours and surface finishing of materials used in attic and in the room below harmoniously complements each other.TYPE OF STAIRS

A staircase made completely of wooden materials with a storage space under each flight. There are three storage rooms in total, two of them accessible from the hallway. The concept is that the wood used for steps, a room door, a panelling and locker doors connects lower and upper rooms with identical flooring material. Two-storey house designed with the aim to present artworks, especially contemporary paintings, is equipped with fully metal staircase. Surface finishing preserves the look of a raw steel sheet. Sunny apartment with limited space is equipped with a steel staircase with cantilevered treads. The entire construction is painted in bright white colour in order to merge with a white washed wall. Sharply shaped fully metal space saving staircase designed as a contrast to a solid wood floor, roof and furniture. Unchanged colour of the steel sheet treated with transparent varnish corresponds with materials used for the fire-place.
